MADURAM MALAYALAM
Maduram Malayalam’ has turned out as a very popular initiative Al-Ihsan proposed for the community. The prime motive behind this initiative was to promote the mother tongue of the Keralite community, Malayalam, a language which is spoken in Kerala. The organisation understands that the home language has a greater influence in nurturing the culture of the Keralite community in their later generation. Every language has its own culture and civilizational aspects. The have their own benefits and defects. The Keralite migrant community who settled in the UK in 1960’s and after have completely absorbed their local language in its complete aspects. However, their children who are born and bred in the UK due to the lack of exposure to their mother tongue distanced from it. Al-Ihsan initiated this project to familiarise the children with the South Indian culture and heritage for which the Keralite community is very proud of especially with its natural beauty, customs, food, and other resources.
